Of the topics and information that we have covered this semester in the course, what has been the most impactful or interesting?

This semester was so fun and interesting first of all because learning about women’s health class is for now on my favorite class. I’m a women and I consider this class important because I can apply it to everyday in my life, things that I didn’t know and what to do in case I encounter myself with these similar problems such as infections and HIV/AIDS. This is of the things that really impacted me because as a women we are very smart but when it comes to have a relationship with a man most of us give ourselves to them without even knowing that they might be infected with this dangerous disease. In chapter 7 this was cover and it taught me many things to know about the difference between each disease I learned where it originated, the perspectives on AIDS, the treatments, and how to prevent from this to happen to a women like me. Staying healthy is an important lifestyle to live by, have annually check up with the doctor, using condoms, and reducing the number of partners or even doing abstinence is a great way to avoid in getting HIV/AIDS.

What can a woman do to reduce her risk of assault?

There are several ways a woman can do to reduce her risk of assault. Never walk alone, this makes you more vulnerable to assault. Do not walk alone especially at night if you are in unknown area. If you have to walk alone be always aware of your surroundings. Do not be afraid to carry a concealed weapon or pepper spray. There are many classes of self-defense for women available. Parents or a mature friend should always know your whereabouts. My parents always told me to go to a party with a friend never alone or if I didn’t have anybody to go with they could always take me to the party and pick me up after. At a party be aware of who gives you a drink. There are many date rape drugs out there that are not detectable by the eye if dropped in your drink. Try to keep alcoholic beverages to a minimum since this can affect your perception when in a dangerous situation. Many guys will try to take advantage of a woman that appears to be intoxicated. If you sense threat immediately seek help to prevent anything misfortunes.
